Zimbabwe Gains Upper Hand Over Bangladesh in Day Two of Cricket Test

Zimbabwe's national cricket team piled up a hefty lead against Bangladesh on Friday in the second day of a five-day test match at Harare sports club – the first test action for Zimbabwe in six years as the team withdrew from the test circuit in 2005.

Hamilton Masakadza posted 104 runs to score his second test century - just 10 years after his first. Neophyte left-hander Bran Vitoridi disposed of Imrul Kayes, Tamim Iqbal and eventually batsman Shahriar Nafeez to leave Zimbabwe with a 263-run advantage over Bangladesh at the end of the second day of the historic test match.

Zimbabwe ended with 370 runs while Bangladesh scored 107 for three. "We knew that Bangladesh would come out and bowl better this morning, especially with Robiul Islam bowling 12 overs in succession and keeping to their game plan," Zimbabwe captain Brendan Taylor told a reporter. "But we know that although we retain the advantage in this match there is a long way to go."Cricket commentator Dean du Plessis tells VOA Studio 7 reporter Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye that Zimbabwe has a tough day in store on Saturday as the national team must keep Bangladesh in check notwithstanding the home team's 263-run lead.
